24/06/2014 - EPHA is launching this call for Scientific Advisors (SA) to work with the EPHA team on a voluntary basis to provide support and advice to the policy officers to ensure that our advocacy work is well grounded in scientific evidence. The policy team in EPHA is made up of a group of individuals with tremendous knowledge of how the European Union works and doesn’t work for health. In order to strengthen our work and ensure scientific rigour, we are seeking specialists in the following issues:

- Health threats (e.g. AMR, epidemics, communicable diseases)
- Pharma policy (especially scientific input)
- CAM (developing positions based on scientific evidence)
- Urban inequalities in relation to housing and health
- Social and Fundamental Rights Framework (fundamental rights, inequalities e.g. Roma)
- NCDs and Nutrition (especially relating to obesity)
- Agriculture and the wider food supply chain (beyond technicalities of nutrition, wider food supply chain, but also overlapping with labelling, marketing, pricing and food-related fiscal measures)
- Children, maternal and SRH issues
- Trade
- EU Governance and Health
- Public health research policy

Applicants should be able to demonstrate profound technical expertise, as well as experience and publications in one or more of the mentioned areas. Advisors will be to support EPHA’s Policy Coordinators with evidence based data, provide guidance within the subject area and keep us up to date with the latest research trends and debates.

The level of commitment may vary between 1-2 hours per month to 1-2 working hours per week, depending on the working area and your availability.
