[Save the date] International conference - Child Health Research: Key to a Healthier European Society

Date: Thursday May 30th, and Friday May 31st 2013

Place: School of Nursing and Human Sciences, DCU

The aims of this conference are :

• To launch the two reports, from RICHE and CHICOS
• To celebrate and showcase EU funded child health research
• To make the strategic case for further investment in child health research
• To launch the first ever ’Children and Violence Report Cards’ from the TACTICS project

The conference will be opened by Ireland’ Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, and closed by Patricia O’Reilly, Health lead from the European Commission DG Research Commissioner Maura Geoghegan-Quinn’s cabinet.

The two keynote speakers will be :

• Prof. Lennart Köhler, Nordic School of Public Health
• Prof. Helmut Brand, President of ASPHER and of Bad Gastein Health, Maastricht University

This international conference is organised by two EU funded FP7 projects, RICHE, led from DCU in Dublin, and CHICOS, led from CREAL in Barcelona. Both projects end in 2013.

The following projects will be at the meeting and many plan to launch their reports there:

• RICHE, (Research into Child Health in Europe) is tasked with preparing a roadmap for child health research in Europe for the next decade. - See further details here.

• TACTICS (Tools to Address Childhood Trauma, Injury and Childhood Safety;)- See further details here.

• EURO-PERISTAT (monitoring and evaluating maternal and child health in the perinatal period) - See further details here.

(This is the main DCU website conference service registration system). The early bird registration fee is €220 for the whole conference, €110 for students. Early bird registration will close on April 14th 2013. Full registration will be €260, and €130 for students.
