The European Week Against Cancer (EWAC) - organised by the European Cancer Leagues Association - aims to raise awareness about cancer prevention, using the European Code Against Cancer. The 2011 edition emphasised the relationship between healthy lifestyles and cancer.
Several EPHA members, including the Association of the European Cancer Leagues (ECL), Cancer Research UK and the European Institute of Womens Health were very active during this week. You can find further information about their meetings below.

Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy, John Dalli, Martin Seychell, Deputy Director-General for Health and Consumer, Michele Cecchini (OECD), Lawrence Von Karsa (IARC), MEP Alojz Peterle and MEP Christel Schaldemose were some of the speakers present at ECL event. Such a high level representation allowed fruitful discussions between participants.

Presentations focused notably on issues such as the Cancer Awareness Measure, the WHO’s Strategy on Diet and Physical Activity, IARC’s research on Screening, Alcohol and Cancer, UV exposure and Cancer.
