MHE convenes a conference on "Diversity in mental health and well-being"

Mental Health Europe is organising a conference on "DIVERSITY IN MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. An Opportunity for Intercultural Dialogue". The event will take place on 7-9 August 2008 in Aalborg, Denmark.
The Mental Health Europe Conference 2008 is inspired by the declaration of the European Commission to designate 2008 the "European Year of Intercultural Dialogue".

Second issue of ‘Spotlight on the FCTC’

In April the Smokefree Partnership published the second issue of the ‘Spotlight on the FCTC’.
This second issue focuses on second-hand smoke and highlights how the European Commission, European Parliament and EU Member States have met, or in some cases failed to meet, their obligations to tackle second-hand smoke, according to Article 8 of the convention.

MHE new publication:"From Exclusion to Inclusion – The Way Forward to Promoting Social Inclusion of People with Mental Health Problems"

Funded by the European Commission Community Action Programme to Combat Social Exclusion 2002-2006, Mental Health Europe (MHE) issued a new publication, "From Exclusion to Inclusion – The Way Forward to Promoting Social Inclusion of People with Mental Health Problems". Results published of study into how to advance the AIDS vaccine pipeline

http://www.iavi.org/ The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative commissioned the George Institute for International Health to undertake a study to discover what would advance the AIDS vaccine pipeline.
With over 33 million people now living with HIV and millions more people becoming infected every year, the search for a vaccine is a critical part of a comprehensive and sustainable response to HIV. And there is good scientific evidence to suggest that an AIDS vaccine is possible.

SENCA: new Southern European Network tackling HIV/HCV Co-Infection

The European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) is supporting the creation of a new network of activists from Italy, Spain, France and Portugal (SENCA) because in parts of Southern Europe, liver failure is now the leading cause of death among HIV-positive people.

What does the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) mean for the EU?

The Smokefree Partnership is preparing a series of briefing papers about the WHO FCTC to inform policy makers of their obligations and to ensure that the Convention becomes a concrete reality.
