EPHA is undertaking an NGO mapping project, funded by the European commission. The aim is to create a directory of NGOs in Europe working in the field of health, and will go live later this year.
The new European health NGO Directory is a directory that will contain information on all European and national level NGOs working in the field of health. The development of the directory has been funded by the European Commission who sees this as an invaluable tool for consulting civil society. (...)

DETERMINE is an EU wide initiative to stimulate action on the social and economic determinants of health inequalities, which is co-funded by the EU Public Health Action Programme. Its main objective is to achieve greater awareness and capacity amongst decision makers in all policy sectors in order to take health and health equity into consideration when developing policies and interventions.

The three year, European wide collaboration on sexual and reproductive rights for young people through the ’SAFE Project’ came to an end at a closing conference in Brussels on 8/9 October 2007.

EuroHealthNet, in close collaboration with the Czech National Institute of Public Health (NIPH), in July 2007 launched a new EU consortium for action on socio-economic determinants of health entitled DETERMINE.
DETERMINE will concentrate on the underlying socio-economic determinants for health. It will build on and take forward existing work in the area of the social determinants of health and on health inequalities in an EU context.

Updated with information about the conference on 6-7 September. A new Thematic Network called DIETS (Dietitians Improving the Education and Training Standards) was launched in October 2006 and is led by the University of Plymouth. EPHA is a member of the network.
DIETS builds on the excellent foundations which the European Federation of Associations of Dietitians (EFAD) established through their initiatives in education, such as developing the European Benchmark Statement for Dietitians. (...)

The MIGHEALTHNET project aims to help health care services meet the challenge of providing adequate care to increasingly multicultural European populations by giving professionals, policy makers, researchers, educators and migrant and minority groups easy access to a dynamically evolving body of knowledge and a virtual network of expertise.

EPHA is a partners of the STACS Project funded by the European Commission, DG Research. The purpose of the project is to support the active participation of civil society organisations in research projects.
The STACS (Science, Technology and Civil Society) project brings together a consortium of six organisations coordinated by the Fondation Sciences Citoyennes (FSC).

Officially launched on the 27th October 2006, this network gathers 15 European NGOs working on health and development issues. EPHA is one of the Brussels-based partners.

Although not comprehensive, the Health Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) continue to offer the best catalyst to push for increased action to improve health in developing countries.
