EPHA Presentation: recent policy trends at EU level

Tamsin Rose made a presentation on recent EU policy trends and the better regulation process at the EC Law and Nordic Alcohol policy meeting in Oslo on 15 December 2005.
The meeting, organised by ACTIS (Norwegian Policy Network on Alcohol and Drugs) reviewed recent cases from the European Court of Justice (ECJ) on pharmaceuticals, advertising and gambling.

Using information to reduce health inequalities

Tamsin Rose made a presentation and ran a workshop on "Using information and communication to reduce inequalities" at the WHO Regions for Health Network Annual meeting in Katowice, Poland on 24-25 November 2005.
The presentation, which can be downloaded here, explored how the practice of health promotion has moved away from centralised, single message campaigns towards social marketing which involves targeted messages and a variety of media based on the needs and aspirations of the target (...)

Lobbying, the role of NGOs and communication strategies

Tamsin Rose made a presentation about “Lobbying, the role of NGOs and communication strategies” at a Training Course on the European Internal Market and the Health Sector, which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 26 to 30 October 2005. The event was organised by the Centre for European Programmes of the American University in Bulgaria.

EPHA Presentation - The pros and cons of participating in EU programmes

EPHA General Secretary Tamsin Rose made a presentation on 12 December 2003 on the advantages and disadvantages for NGOs of submitting projects for EU funding.
The conference was organised in Sofia, Bulgaria by the Ministry of Health, the Partnership for health consortium and supported by DG SANCO. The conference was opened by the Bulgarian Minister of Health and was designed to encourage local NGOs to participate in the EU Public Health Programme. Tamsin Rose made a presentation on behalf of EPHA at the AGM of the European region of the Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA).
The presentation highlighted what a ’Europe of health’ might be like, and how EU policies and ECJ judgements impact on national healthcare systems.

Training seminar in Cyprus : Health in the EU

Tamsin Rose, EPHA’s General Secretary ran a one day training seminar in Cyprus for NGOs, civil society and health professionals on ’Health in the EU’ on Saturday 20 September 2003. The training was repeated on Sunday 21 September with Turkish language interpretation. 50 people attended the training seminars which was funded by the EU Civil Society Programme in Cyprus. Health Policy Forum meeting, 6 June 2003

The EU Health Policy Forum met in Brussels on 6 June 2003. Agenda items included the links between health and enlargement, social policy and the environment.
The Forum recommendations on Health and Social Policy (drafted by EPHA and EPSU) were discussed in detail and a written procedure agreed that will lead to final adoption in July.

On 23 May 2008, EPHA presented its work and priorities to the UKBO Health Working Group.
The event was organised by the North West of England representation of the health sector to the European Union, an EPHA member and Chair of the UKBO Health Working Group.
