An Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) hearing took place on 25 April to discuss the European Commission’s legislative proposal to revise the Professional Qualifications Directive. The hearing served to confirm that a large number of complex issues remain to be solved.
The hearing gathered the lead Committee’s Rapporteur and shadow rapporteurs, as well as expert speakers representing some of the professions affected.

On 21 May 2010, the World Health Assembly adopted the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel to mitigate the ongoing problem of migration of qualified health professionals. EPHA has developed a briefing on the WHO Code, on its implementation at EU and Member States level and on the challenges that are faced in this area. EPHA also makes recommendations on how the Code can be implemented.

Following its report in early 2011 on the Human Resources for Health challenges faced by the five biggest EU countries and their preparedness to implement the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel, EPHA partner Action for Global Health has issued a call for tender for a scoping of the situation in the remaining 22 Member States.
The tender is for a desk-based contract for which Action for Global Health is looking for a suitable consultant.
