Towards a future European Parliament report on violence against women with disabilities?


During a meeting organised of the European Parliament Disability Intergroup, the Intergroup (composed of MEPs) announced it will consider a report on Violence against Women with Disabilities. MEPs also called for a Directive on male violence against women. Council of Europe calls for more participation of children and young people in decision making


Discussed at the end of March 2012 by the Committee of Ministers, the Council of Europe adopted the Recommendation to Member States on Participation of children and young people . Children and the youth have the right, from an early age, to be heard and taken seriously. It is fundamental to their dignity and healthy development. Pre-announcement - The run up to launch the 2012 Child Safety Report Cards

Eurostat statistics published: 23% of EU population, including 27% of children in poverty in 2010


In 2010, 115 million people, ie 23.4% of the population of the EU27, were at risk of poverty or social exclusion. The figures published by Eurostat mean that these people were in at least one of the following three situations: at risk of poverty, severely materially deprived or living in households with very low work intensity.
