A member of EPHA Secretariat participated in the study visit to the Czech Republic organised by the Working Group on Enlargement of the Social Platform, on 18-20 September.

The visit included meetings with representatives of the Czech Institutions (government and parliament), the European Commission Delegation and Czech NGOs.

Promotion of capacity-building amongst Czech NGOs and networking were the main objectives of the visit.

EPHA came back with useful contacts which have provided a basis for future co-operation with Czech platforms of NGOs. At the end of the stay, the Working Group on Enlargement held a fruitful meeting.

The European Commission has asked the Social Platform for advice on how to strengthen civil society in accession countries.

The Working Group came out with specific action points that will be presented to the EC next 21 October (bi-annual meeting of the Social Platform and the EC).
