EPHA is part of the ENGENDER project which aims to counter the current lack of information on actions, policy and programmes aiming to improve gender equity in health.
Launched in November 2009, ENGENDER has three specific objectives:
promoting and supporting gender equity in health by developing an online inventory of good practices in Europe,
creating a sustainable "European network on policies and interventions tackling gender based inequalities in health", a forum to exchange information and good practices between the 27 EU Member States on gender and health,
promoting action and research on gender inequities in health through topic-specific policy briefings and recommendations based on the inventory of best practice.
By achieving these objectives, the ENGENDER Project would lead to more equitable health policies for women and men.
An online tools intends to gather good practices, policies and interventions aiming to promote gender equity in health at regional, national and EU levels. These good practices, mainly but not exclusively coming from the health sector include e.g., legislation ensuring that women and men receive equal payment for equal work, and health promotion programmes considering the specific needs of women and men.
The ENGENDER Project is a two-year project partly funded by the European Commission.
The partners involved are the following: Karolinska Institute, National Institute for Health Development, Institut Za Varovanje Zdravja Republike Slovenije, Maastricht University, Veselibas ekonomikas centrs, European Institute of Womens Health, Swedish National Institute of Public Health, Statni Zdravotni Ustav, European Mens Health Forum, Regione Del Veneto.
Being a collaborative partner, EPHA encourages its members to share their knowledge and experience of the issue and contribute to the project.
