Spotlight on Index Foundation

Index Foundation is a Bulgarian NGO, working in the field of healthcare and civil society strengthening, conducting research and implementing projects in wide partnerships with local organisations and partners in the USA and the EU.

Index Foundation has a wide network of experts and researchers with versatile expertise required for EU-funded projects; a network of NGOs in Bulgaria and the region; contact persons in most ministries, agencies, institutions and local and regional authorities in Bulgaria; excellent working relations with the university community in the country.

What is our mission?

The mission of the organisation is to strengthen civil society and the social safety nets in the country, and to promote best practices.

What do we do?

Some of the recent activities of Index Foundation include: assessing the needs of long-term care as part of a FP-7 Research project; a study on the situation of private health insurance; creation and development of structures for citizen participation in decision making in health, evaluating partnerships between companies and citizens’ organisations, monitoring and evaluating the state of the right to active European citizenship.

How do you get involved?

In 2009, Index Foundation won a Framework Contract tender of the European Commission for LOT-8 HEALTH, as part of an international consortium. In the next 4 years (2010 – 2014) we will be providing health experts for various short-term international missions of the European Commission all over the world.
