The SALUS Charitable Foundation is a not-for profit NGO dealing with the problems of health promotion and disease prevention. It was established in Lviv (Ukraine) in January 1996. Its activities cover the area of the Western Ukraine with a population close to 10 million people.
Its goals are:
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS prevention work amongst the whole population, including specific target groups;
Providing the population with possibilities to be examined and treated from STIs and HIV;
Implementation of new technologies in diagnostics of diseases;
Implementation of new therapeutic methods in the treatment of STDs and their complications.
SALUS represents the interests and needs of the entire Western Ukrainian population, especially members of vulnerable groups such as:
victims of trafficking, violence, rape and sexual exploitation,
people belonging to HIV target groups and people living with HIV/AIDS, and
youngsters.
The SALUS Foundation mission is to improve health and the implementation of preventive programs in Western Ukraine.
As a charitable non-profit NGO working in the field of health promotion, the activities of SALUS focus on:
Health promotion and improving health in the Ukraine
Disease prevention, medical and social care
Promotion of healthy lifestyles and safe sex
Implementation of new technologies in diagnostics of the HIV/STIs and other diseases
Implementation of new therapeutic methods in the treatment of STIs, their complications and other diseases
STIs and HIV/AIDS prevention work covering the entire population including specific target groups
