This event will explore how the Better Regulation agenda could meet the needs and expectations of EU citizens. Spurred on by the Stiglitz Report, the EU Beyond GDP initiative and a groundbreaking evidence-based report, speakers of note from the European institutions, stakeholders form civil society and the business community will explore how the EU institutions should preserve and strengthen the democratic process and secure a fairer balance between the social, environmental and economic pillars of the European Union. The panel will:

- Discuss the purpose of the Better Regulation agenda

- Asses the challenges of existing measures and their outcomes

- Discuss how our measures of progress, wealth and well-being could be improved within the "social pillar"

- Explore ways to strengthen the social aspects of impact assessment and alternative indicators
