Who are we ?
Fundamed is a not-for-profit organisation based in Spain that acts as the social arm of Contenidos e Información de Salud, a publishing company focused on health information.
Who do we represent ?
We place ourseves the centre of the stakeholder dialogue, directing the network of stakeholders involved in the Spanish public health sector.
In particular, we act as the Executive Secretary of the General Patients’ Alliance (GPA), a platform operating among patients associations that are committed to quality and transparency management.
The GPA seeks to find new dialogue opportunities and to strengthen the existing ones, by following matters of global interest to patients and supporting all its members in voicing their specific concerns.
What is our mission ?
Our mission is to stimulate debate around health issues, trying to involve all stakeholders and core participants in the public health system, including patient organisations, health professionals, companies and public administration.
We aim to be a forum for discussion and analysis of the following issues in the public health sector :
Enhancing innovation
Biomedical research and development
Quality improvement of healthcare assistance
Sustainable access to resources
Patients’ quality of life
What do we do ?
We have two main types of activities :
Promoting patients’ organisation representation in health decisions ;
In this area, we stimulate mechanisms that provide Spanish patients’ organisations with consistent and permanent participation in health decisions. This is done through the General Patients Alliance (GPA).We also work with other stakeholders in creating confidence and transparency of NGOs across the health sector.
Biomedical research promotion ;
In this area, we have more than 30 supportive companies and institutions. Satisfying the need of increasing budgets to meet the Lisbon Agenda, is a specific focal point in this area of our work.
