The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL), together with partners, have launched new materials for the public on the new consumer’s right to know about harmful chemicals in products, in celebration of European Consumer’s Day.

This new right was established by the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) chemicals law.

These new materials consist of a leaflet, a model letter, a new web page and a press release, all of which are available in several languages.

The new leaflet “Harmful chemicals in products you buy ? Your right to know” explains how you can use the new consumer’s right to know to make better informed consumer choices, to influence companies to make safer products, and to encourage regulators to improve the REACH chemicals law.

The model letter can simply be fill in and given to retailers or send to manufacturers to find out what is in a particular product.

The new web page ’Take Action Centre’ provides access to all the new materials and much more on the new consumer’s right.
