Dear e-friends,

I am really pleased to welcome you to our brand new website launched at the 2003 eHealth High Level Conference organised by the European Commission.

Since 1993, EPHA has campaigned to promote and protect the health of all people living in Europe, and to advocate for greater citizen participation in health-related policy making at the European level. We have developed this website as an interactive tool, allowing us to communicate with our members, and allowing them to post comments and suggestions on the back office of the site. Every visitor will also be able to make comments on all articles, including this one, via the article’s forum tool.

We want this website to be an information tool as well; it will feature up-to-date news on a range of key issues such as social issues, environment, food and agriculture, trade and health. You will have direct access to the latest information directly from the home page, encouraging you to come back often and see what’s new. Our homepage also has newsfeeds, providing links to interesting articles from other selected sites.

You can also subscribe to receive our monthly newsletter and, if you are a member, to subscribe online for your personal account, which will give you access to the members only section and to the back office. If you are not yet a member, and you are interested in health related issues, please consider joining us.

I will not focus on technical details, but let me just highlight some of them. This website is completely based on open source technologies; it has been conceived to be easy to navigate and optimised for all operating systems and internet connections; moreover, it provides powerful search options and XML-RSS newsfeeds. For more details, please refer to the "About this Site" section.

I hope you will enjoy navigating this website; please do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat should you have any comments or suggestions.
