After the success of the pilot Training Programme in September 2008, EPHA launched its Spring Programme for Young Health Professionals in March this year. Here is an overview of the programme EPHA organised for the participants.
The Spring Training Programme welcomes young health professionals from all over Europe working for various governmental and non-governmental organisations, including ECCO, Eurocare, Eurohealthnet, the European Environment Bureau, HEAL, and the World Health Organisation.
This programme is an opportunity for those new to Brussels to have an introduction to the European Union and Brussels life as well as developing their network.
The Training Programme started with an introductory week from 9 to 13 March 2009.
During the Spring Training Week, the EPHA Secretariat provided introductory training for all participants on issues including the European Union, advocacy and communication. The training included participation from EU officials in order to give a true ’insight’ into the working of EU institutions. Participants also had the opportunity to develop their research and communication skills through two interactive sessions: a presenttion of their host organisation and a role exercise on Food labelling during which each participant representing a key stakeholder.
Please find the programme here.
There will be follow-up sessions every month with speakers from institutions and stakeholder groups in order to ensure continual training and development.
For each of them, a speaker is invited to present one particular issue (Europe in the World, Civil Society and Stakeholder Involvement etc.) in order to complement their developing skills and integration into the Brussels operating environment.
Please find the draft programme for the follow-up sessions here.
