Respecting the standards

This web site’s layout uses only the standards defined by the World Wide Web Consortium; all the positioning relies on a CSS stylesheet.

This offers several benefits:

- the pages are lighter and therefore load faster,
- the main content (on the middle column) loads first, before the other columns and the top menu.

Even if we worked to ensure the maximum of accessibility and usability, this site is best viewed with a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768x32bit (TrueColor), which is a common feature in the most part of modern LCD and TFT screens.

Respecting your choice of browser

"Anyone who slaps a ’this page is best viewed with Browser X’ label on a Web page appears to be yearning for the bad old days, before the Web, when you had very little chance of reading a document written on another computer, another word processor, or another network." (Tim Berners-Lee)

During the development, the website has been tested within the following browsers:

- Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 SP1 (text size set to "Medium");
- Opera 7;
- Netscape 7;
- Mozilla 1.3.

Minor problems with the positioning of the images may arise if using Internet Explorer 5, and the layout is not correctly displayed with IE4. We advise you to download and install the last version of your favourite browser to fully enjoy our website. However, we’ve designed the layout to degrade gracefully with older browsers and even with the oldest ones (or text only ones like Lynx), you will still be able to read the content of this website.

Our staff monitors our website using Mozilla Firefox on Linux and Safari on Mac OS X. Please report any visibility/layout issues to webmaster@epha.org.

Access keys for this website

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. Access keys provide an alternative way to navigate around a website using the keyboard instead of the mouse.

On Windows and Linux (Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox), you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. On Internet Explorer, you may have to press Enter after typing the access key combination.

All pages on this site define the following access keys:

- 1 - Home page
- 3 - Site map
- 4 - Search box
- 9 - Contact email
- 0 - Accessibility statement (this page)

Additionally, the p access key will lead you to the printer friendly version of the article you are reading. This access key will only work for news articles where a printer friendly version is foreseen.
