The new Scientific Risk Advisory Structure of Scientific Committees was approved by the Commission on 5 September 2008. The Advisory Structure will provide the Commission with high quality and independent scientific advice on matters related to consumer safety, public health, and the environment.
A call for experts is expected to be announced within the next few weeks, and interested parties should be prepared to submit their applications by 31 October 2008. Depending on their field of work, scientists may apply for membership in one or more of the following areas:
Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS)
Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER)
Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR)
Pool of Scientific Advisors
Database of Experts
