The objectives of the meeting are:

- Capacity building on taxation and illicit trade in tobacco products.
- Presentations on the commission proposals on taxation and the chair’s text on illicit trade in tobacco products
- Developing a Health Perspective on Taxation of Tobacco Products

Please note that accommodation and travel expenses will not be covered by the organisers.

A limited number of travel grants to cover travel and accommodation are available for tobacco control advocates, economists and professionals with an interest in tax policy and health issues from the “EU-12”1. Priority will be given to applicants with a demonstrable track record and interest in tobacco control and tax and illicit trade issues. Should you wish to apply for a grant, please contact smokefree.partnership@ersnet.org by 14 July 2008.
