The participation at the OPEN DAYS 2008 is free, and there will be 143 specialist seminars to choose from and a total of 15,000 seats available.

The OPEN DAYS seminars and debates will focus on four themes:

- Innovating regions: Promoting research, technological development and innovation;
- Sustainable development: Regional responses to climate change;
- Cooperation and networking: Exchange of best practice in regional development;
- Looking forward: A European cohesion policy for tomorrow.

In the Investors´ Café there will be 6 thematic villages of altogether approximately 120 stands. They will create an exhibition area with stands for partners of Investors´ Café to highlight their investment potential and priorities. One of these will be the "Health Village", where eight workshops will take place addressing key issues such as:

- improving health promotion and health care
- tackling health inequalities
- exploring information and communication technologies for health
- community financing by health programmes
