EPHA working meetings

This month EPHA participated in both the Sherpa meeting on High Level Group of the Agro Food Industry Competitiveness and the High Level Group itself. Please read a report of the meetings on the EPHA website, members only.

On 23 June, EPHA had a meeting with the European Center for Disease and Control (ECDC) to discuss joint advocacy on raising awareness on the use of antibiotics in Europe.


EPHA Working Groups The EPHA Food and Nutrition Working Group met on 4 June to discuss future strategy on the Commission’s proposal on ’Food Information to Consumers’. EPHA prepared an EPHA position paper on labelling.


EPHA, your ’eyes and ears’ in Brussels

On 3 June, EPHA attended the European Alcohol and Health Forum - Workshop Monitoring and Evaluating: you can read the report from the forum please click here.

On 4 June, EPHA attended an a consultative meeting with DG Development of the European Commission on improving Policy Coherence for Development.

On 12-13 June, EPHA attended the Citizens Agora on Climate Change in the European Parliament: you can read the conference report here.

On 11 June, EPHA attended the ALDE Public Hearing on Efficient Food Labelling in Fighting Obesity. To see the report from the hearing click here.

On 18 June, EPHA gave a presentation to the delegation from North Lancashire Teaching Primary Care Trust at North West England House on the role of EPHA and how Lobbying really works. To see the article click here.

On 24 June, EPHA attended the ENVI committee exchange of views on the European Commission proposal on regulation of food information to consumers. To find a report on the meeting click here.

On 24 June, EPHA attended the AGRI committee in the European Parliament to see an exchange of view with Mariann Fischer Boel (European Commissioner) on the CAP health check: to see the report click here.

On 25 June, EPHA attendend the IMCO committee exchange of views on the European Commission proposal on regulation of food information to consumers. To see the meeting report click here.

EPHA health advocacy

On 5 June, EPHA gave a presentation in the European Parliament in a conference on ’So that eating rhymes with public health’ organised by Confrontation Europe. Please find comments on the conference at the EPHA website

On 13 and 14 June, EPHA attended the ’NGO Days in Croatia’ and gave presentations about benefits of networking and an overview of EU policy and impact on public health.

On 18 June EPHA and the other Brussels partner of Action for Global Health (the Stop AIDS Alliance) launched the "Healthy Aid" report at a seminar in the Residence Palace in Brussels.

On 24 June EPHA attended a meeting at the Brussels offices of the World Bank with World Bank Vice President Joy Phumaphi to discuss the International Health Partnership and related initiatives.
