Nearly one hundred experts, representing governments, research institutions, non-government organizations (NGOs), business and international organizations participated in the conference and worked together to formulate recommendations towards Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP).
Participants agreed on the necessity of the "EU Action Plan on SCP" to include clear sustainability targets, concrete steps to internalize environmental costs into prices and create a directive on green public procurement.
The report also summarizes the discussions held during the conference focused on the three consumption areas which have been identified as causing the greatest environmental impacts: housing, food and drink, and mobility.
