Events organised by EPHA

On 6 February 2008, Caroline Bollars organised the first Policy Coordination Meeting for EPHA members. Please find the draft minutes of the February meeting on EPHA website.

Tuesday 26 February 2008, EPHA secretariat organised a final meeting for the Ad Hoc Working Group Information to Patients - Joint Statement.

Wednesday 27 February 2008, EPHA organised a seminar under the umbrella of the STACS projects about Nutrition and Health, impact of the Common Agriculture Policy. A report of the meeting will be available soon, please find information about the event on EPHA website.

Meetings and events attended by EPHA

On 5 February 2008 Frazer Goodwin met staff from Health Canada that were visiting Brussels at the Canadian Embassy and discussed Canadian work on climate change and health and Global Health.

On 7-8 February 2008 Monika Kosinska attended the Slovenian Presidency Cancer conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Thursday 14 February 2008, the University of Maastricht, Faculty of European Public Health, organised a visit for their Bachelor students to the Dutch Embassy to visit key stakeholders in the field of European Public Health. Caroline Bollars spoke to the students and explained the role of EPHA in Brussels.

Caroline Bollars attended a WHO meeting on Community intervention in Nutrition in Berlin on 21-22 February 2008. Please find a summary report of the meeting on EPHA website.

Tuesday 26 February 2008, Caroline Bollars attended a briefing to MEP’s in the European Parliament on food labelling. The briefing was organised by the UK Food Standards Agency and talked about how food labelling can contribute to healthier eating.

Also on 26 February 2008, Frazer Goodwin took part in a round table on Health in Africa organised by the World Bank with a presentation of their review of private sector involvement in the health sector in Africa entitled "Health in Africa". NGOs present gave a mixed assessment of the contribution the private sector had brought to Africa.

On 27 February 2008, Frazer Goodwin attended a presentation by the WHO in the European Parliament on the extent of drug resistant TB and the global efforts to combat both TB and drug resistant TB.

On 26 February 2008, Daniela Negri attended the MEP Heart Group meeting organised by the European Heart Network and focused on "the costs of non heart health in Europe".
