Events organised by EPHA
Caroline organised a Policy Coordination meeting on 7 November 2007 with a lot of EPHA members participating. The draft minutes of the PCM are available on EPHA’s website in the Members only section.
Caroline organised a workshop on 16 November in Edinburgh in the framework of the STACS project (funded by FP6). The workshop was co-organised with the University of Warwick. A report of the two days workshop can be found in the Members only section of EPHA’s website.
Meetings and events attended by EPHA
From 7 November 2007 to 9 November 2007, Frazer Goodwin attended the European Development Days event in Lisbon presenting Action for Global Health, the Health Warning report and a briefing on Climate Change and Health.
On 7 November 2007, Patricia Fernandez Perez attended the Final conference of the Romain Project, which was held in the European Parliament, in Brussels. The report is available in the Members only section.
On 8 and 9 November Daniela Negri attended the summoning of the AGORA, which took place in the European Parliament, in Brussels. The report is available in the Members only section .
On 14 and 15 November 2007, Daniela Negri attended the Platform on Diet, Physical Activity ans Health, organised by DG SANCO. The report is available in the Members only section.
EFSA organised a three day event in Brussels on 20, 21 and 22 November. Caroline attended the events for EPHA. A summary of the topics of the different days can be found at EPHA’s website.
On 20 November 2007, Daniela Negri attended the press conference announcing the major findings of the Child Safety Report Cards, which were illustrated by Joanne Vincenten, director of ECSA. The report is available in the Publications and events section.
On 21 November 2007, Frazer Goodwin attended a seminar in the European Parliament hosted by Anders Wijkman MEP and Satu Hasi MEP and chaired by Climate Action Network Europe on climate justice and the forthcoming United Nations negotiations in Bali on climate change.
On 21 November 2007, Frazer Goodwin attended a seminar in the European Parliament hosted by Catherine Stihler MEP and organised by the World Association of Girl Guide and Girl Scouts on their activities educating and empowering girls and young women on HIV/AIDS.
The Royal College of Physicians organised a Round Table on the EU Health Strategy on 27 November 2007 in London. Caroline represented EPHA at this event.
On 27 November 2007, Daniela Negri attended the launch of Equinet, which took place in the Museum of Musical Instruments in Brussels. The report will be available in the December Newsletter.
Caroline attended the EU Health Policy Forum on 28 November 2007. A report will be available soon on EPHA’s website.
Presentations
On 21 November 2007, Frazer Goodwin gave a presentation to a group of Swedish MPs visiting Brussels on a tour organised by the Swedish Temperance Organisation (IOGT-NTO) about progress towards the Millennium Development Goals, health in developing countries and the link to alcohol focusing on EPHA’s contribution to Action for Global Health.
Caroline was present at the launch of the new Malta Health Network on 23 November in Valette, Malta. Caroline also gave a presentation to the new Health Network on EPHA and its work. More information on the Malta Health Network can be found at EPHA’s website.
On 28 November 2007, Frazer Goodwin gave a presentation at the European Patient Forum’s Autumn seminar and ran a workshop on good and bad experiences of NGO campaigns.
Health campaigns
On 29 November 2007, the EU RIP Alliance obtained Member State endorsement of mandating cigarette makers to only sell self-extinguishing cigarettes (RIP cigarettes). The detailed report is available in the Society section.
