Events organised by EPHA

On Friday 14 September 2007 Caroline organised a meeting with EPHA members to discuss EPHA’s participation on two major platforms on nutrition: the EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health, and the stakeholder consultative platform of the European Food Safety Authority.

On Monday 17 September, Liesbeth and Caroline coordinated and attended the meeting of the ad hoc working group on information to patients (for more information on the outcomes of this meeting, see Health campaigns)

The first Policy Coordination Meeting with EPHA members after the summer was held on 20 September 2007 at EPHA’s offices.

Meetings and events attended by EPHA

On 5 September 2007 Caroline Bollars met representatives from AGE, the European Older People’s Platform, who currently hold the secretariat of the Age Intergroup in the European Parliament. They discussed the possibility to organise a joint meeting with the Health and Consumer Intergroup.

On 4 September 2007 Caroline Bollars and Florence Berteletti Kemp (Vice President of EPHA) attended the meeting of the Civil Society Contact Group.

Friday 7 September 2007 Caroline met a representative from Eurocare to talk about alcohol policy in the EU.

On 10 September 2007 Patricia Fernández Pérez attended the High Impact Services workshop in eHealth, eGovernment and eInclusion Conference organised by the Commission ePractice portal. This website is conceived as a place to discuss and influence the way in which public administrators across Europe operate and deliver services. The event was targeted to professionals in the eGovernment, eInclusion and eHealth that wanted to explore High Impact services. The conference’s report is available in Members Only Section.

On 18 September 2007 Caroline attended the Bureau meeting of the Ageing Intergroup in the European Parliament.

On 19 September 2007 Frazer attended the steering group meeting of the Action for Global Health project in Brussels.

On 20 September 2007 Frazer attended a planning meeting with the French and Brussels partners of the Action for Global Health project in Paris.

On 25 September 2007 Frazer spoke at a side event at the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth UK on the health Millennium Development Goals organised by the UK partners of Action for Global Health.

On 26 September 2007 Caroline participated in the first Alcohol Policy Network meeting related to the Building Capacity Project where EPHA is a collaborating partner.

On 27 September 2007 and 28 September 2007 Frazer attended a conference of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU in Lisbon on Health and Migration in the EU.

Caroline and Frazer attended a training on association management on Friday 21 September.

On Monday 24 September Lara met representatives from BEUC to discuss fund-raising strategies for non for profit organisations.

Presentations

Lara Garrido-Herrero presented EPHA and its activities to a group of representatives from the regional authority of Värmland in western Sweden.

Liesbeth gave a presentation on public private partnerships at the meeting of the ad hoc working group on information to patients on 17 September.

Health campaigns

As part of a coalition of 21 health organisations working on the field of health, EPHA endorsed a Joint Statement on Information to Patients
