Click on the image to see the video The Commission’s campaign, which slogan is “Go on, get out of your armchair”, aims to encourage European citizens to make physical activity part of their daily lives. The TV advert shows some citizens playing football seated in their sofas and has a duration of 30 seconds.

The TV advert is expected to reach between 80 and 100 million viewers, as it will be screened free of charge during the half-time break of this season’s televised Champions League football games, in more that 40 European countries. The first matches will be played on 18 and 19 September 2007.

European Commissioner Markos Kyprianou has expressed his purpose of helping viewers to better understand the importance of physical exercise with this campaign. Mr. Kyprianou has also remembered that Europeans are eating too much and exercising too little, which explains why more than a half of European adults are overweight or obese.

The Commission’s advert to promote physical activity is currently available on the DG SANCO website .
