European Commission DG SANCO aims with these publications to bring the results of the Scientific Committees closer to the public by providing summaries of the most relevant opinions in a format and language which can be easily understood.
There are three non-food Scientific Committees involved:
The Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (SCCP)
The Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER)
The Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR).
All of these committees provide scientific advice to the Commission to help the Commission prepare policy and proposals relating to consumer safety, public health, and the environment. These opinions, which frequently address issues of concern to stakeholders and policy makers, are now easier to understand by the three summaries published.
