Who are we?

The European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) represents around 100 non-governmental and other not-for-profit organisations working in support of health in Europe. 35 EPHA members are pan-European or international networks.

What is our objective?

EPHA aims to promote and protect the health interests of all people living in Europe and to strengthen the dialogue between the EU institutions, citizens and NGOs in support of healthy public policies.

What do we do?

- monitoring the policy making process within the EU institutions and maximising the flow of information concerning health promotion and public health policy developments amongst all interested players including: Commission officials, MEPs, member state and candidate country ministries, NGOs and citizens;

- promoting greater awareness amongst European citizens and non-governmental organisations about policy developments and programme initiatives that effect the health of EU citizens so that they can contribute to the policy making process and take practical action to take part in appropriate programmes;

- supporting collaboration and partnerships between non-governmental organisations and other not for profit organisations active at European, national and local level on health promotion and public health.

In the European Parliament, EPHA provides secretarial assistance to the Intergroup on Health. This is a fruitful forum for discussion between health NGOs and MEPs with a special interest in health issues.

EPHA is a member of the Health and Environment Alliance (ex-EEN), the Platform of European Social NGOs, the Civil Society Contact Group and the European Foundation Center.

EPHA is the content partner of the European Internet portal EurActiv.com.
