The overall budget for the projects is 4,232,963, with the European Union’s Public Health Programme covering 60% of the cost. The two organisations will work together at political, technical and operational levels, with the aim of providing better support for Member States’ public health policies.

Projects will be delivered in the following health related policy areas:
- environment and health
- injuries prevention
- equity in health
- health security
- health services
- alcohol-related harm
- emergency medical services

The Commission and WHO/Europe have so far adopted policy documents on injury prevention, alcohol-related harm, and health security.
