As part of the EPHA’s Central and Eastern European project, the MRC, in cooperation with Civic Alliance Latvia (CAL), held a meeting for a variety of Maltese organisations working on public health in order to discuss the scope for setting up a public health network in Malta.
The MRC has previously been successful in establishing an Anti-poverty network in Malta, and as such, has gained valuable experience of developing national networks. In 2006, MRC’s Director, Godfrey Kenely, developed a strategy for a new network on public health, and negotiated with the Maltese government regarding possible cooperation with the network.
The Practices Exchange Meeting was the first activity to be initiated by the MRC with the aim of facilitating a discussion between the relevant organisations and potential partners for the network.
Results of the meeting:
In general, organisations supported the idea of establishing a network, however, concerns were raised regarding the additional work that organisations would be required to carry out, on top of their core activities.
