John Bowis (EPP-ED UK), Linda McAvan (PES UK), Dan Jorgensen (PES DK) and Jim Higgins (EPP-ED IRL) have tabled a written declaration (attached) to the European Parliament to reduce and ultimately ban the use of Trans Fatty Acids in food.

A written declaration has to be signed by half of the Members of the European Parliament before being presented and adopted by the European Parliament.

Trans- Fatty Acids pose serious health risks to the citizen. It poses the greatest risk to the heart and is a major contributor to Cardiovascular Disease, which causes around 1.9 million deaths in the EU per year.
