Cigarette smoke contains 69 cancer-causing chemicals and hundreds of other poisons. Amongst others, arsenic, formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide can all be found in cigarette smoke.
According to the UK Public Health Minister, smoking related illnesses cost the health system £1.7 billion each year. Furthermore, 300 people are killed by a smoking related disease every day in the UK.
The campaign is funded by the UK Department of Health as part of the UK’s national strategy to combat smoking.
As well as TV advertisements, the campaign includes radio, internet and newspaper advertising, outdoor posters, washroom panels and beer mats.
