Events organised by EPHA
On 4 July 2007 Frazer Goodwin and Patricia Fernández Pérez organised the launch event for the report Health Warning, published by the NGO network Action for Global Health in Brussels. The event was attended by several journalists for the press event and by more that 40 assistants in the seminar. The article about the event can be found in EPHA’s Society Section.
Caroline Bollars, the new policy officer for EPHA started on 9 July 2007. After meeting all her colleagues at the EPHA team, she is now looking at preparing the work plan for 2007-2008.
On 12 July the Executive Committee met to discuss policy, project and administrative issues.
Caroline and Lara organised a Policy Coordination Meeting on 18 July 2007.
Meetings and events attended by EPHA
On 12 and 13 July Lara attended the first meeting of the Advisory Board for the Bachelor on European Health of the University of Maastricht. The members of the board gave advice to the academic team on the methodology and had the opportunity to meet the students.
On 24 July Lara and Caroline Bollars met Commission Officials from DG Sanco to have an update about the next steps for the EU Health Strategy.
On 25 July Lara and Caroline met a representative of the European Heart Network to discuss the involvement of NGOs in the EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health. On the same day, they also met a representative from BEUC to talk about the next meetings of the Health and Consumer Intergroup.
On 11 July, Liesbeth Timmermans attended the Services of General Interest working group meeting organised by the Social Platform.
Publications by EPHA
This month, EPHA published its response to the EC consultation on information to patients.
The Slovak version of the Manual Creating national health alliances in new EU member states is now available online.
EPHA has prepared a response to the European Commission consultation on access to documents.
The Action for Global Health Network, of which EPHA is a partner, issued a report on the EC allocations to global health: "Health Warning".
The translations of the Executive Summary of the EU and Health overview shall be available online and in hard copy at the end of August.
