EPHA has sent a letter to Commissioners (attached) and coordinates the activities of EPHA members with other European organisations
Eurocare - an EPHA member - published a press release that was translated at national level. They also wrote a letter to Commissioners. (attached)
The European Child Safety Alliance - an EPHA member - has mobilised its national members and has sent a letter to the College of Commissioners(attached).
The European Youth Forum sent a strong press release focusing on the impact of alcohol on children and young people.
The Men’s health Forum is to send a letter to the College of Commissioners.
The European Transport Safety Council has sent a letter to Commissioners and prepares a press release addressing drink driving measures.
National organisations
Estonia - Eurocare’s national member was active in the press
Finland - Eurocare’s national member was active in the press
Germany - Eurocare’s national member was active in the press
Ireland - The Irish Medical Organisation has sent a letter to the College of Commissioners (attached) calling for a strong Strategy illustrating their call with alcohol related harm data from Ireland.
The National Youth Council of Ireland did the same.
The Netherlands - Eurocare’s national member (STAP) was active in the press
Poland - Eurocare’s national member was active in the press
Portugal - Eurocare’s member - Centro de Alcoologia Novo Rumo - contacted the president of the European Commission, Mr Jose Manuel Barroso and was active in the press.
Spain - Eurocare’s national member was active in the press
United Kingdom - Eurocare’s national member was active in the press. The Royal College of Physicians sent a open letter to Commissioner Markos Kyprianou and has also been active mobilising the press. Some local and regional authorities from the North West of England have also sent a letter focusing on the local impact of alcohol consumption. The UK Public Health Association has also sent a letter to the European Commission.
