Under the theme “Health Sans Frontières”:

- The European Federation of Nurses board member - G. Christensen - takes part in the plenary session dedicated to healthcare professional migration. They will also address a workshop on the future of healthcare;

- Owen Metcalfe - The Institute of Public Health in Ireland, an EPHA board member - will address a workshop entitled “Trust: Governments and citizens - participation or delegation of risks”. His presentation focuses on Participation in policy: can policy be influenced by the citizens?;

- The European Association of Hospital Managers will participate in the session about quality management of healthcare through accreditation and the scope for European cooperation in a session dedicated to the Future of health care;

- The Global Alliance for TB drug development will mention the fight against the scourge of TB in European during the session focussing on pandemics. Yesterday’s diseases today: fighting the scourge of TB in Europe;

- Lara Garrido Herrero - EPHA Secretary General - and Clive Needle (Eurohealthnet) will comment on the forthcoming European Health Strategy during a workshop organised by the European Commission;

- Susanna Palkonen - the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Associations: - provides a patient perpective on better management of asthma across the EU during a workshop on promoting examples of cross-border exchanges of best-practices;

Members of the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) will take part in the workshop looking at paediatric medicines

The Gastein Conference, a privatly organised event that takes place every year near Saltzburg (Austria), seeks to provide a platform of discussion for the different health stakeholders working at local, regional, national, European and international levels. NGOs have a reduced attendance fee.
