The study is intended to identify one or more novel drug combinations to shorten TB therapy and aims to rapidly move these combinations into clinical development. It will involve a comprehensive survey of potential drug combinations, which may include compounds of drugs that are already available, drugs in clinical trials and drugs in preclinical development. The alliance will place particular emphasis on compounds with different mechanisms of action to address both efficacy and resistance issues.

Investigators are asked to submit a letter of intent outlining their area of expertise and the facilities available to them by the 6th October 2006. The alliance will then select a small group of applicants who will be asked to submit a full proposal by the 5th January 2007.
