Conference briefing

The conference included plenary presentations as well as specialised workshops, which aimed to bridge the gap between scientists, policy makers and programme implementers.

The conference was designed to be of interest to policymakers and programme implementers who have direct responsibility for public health and social welfare, as well as those who work in other sectors, such as finance, road safety, consumer and family affairs, education, entertainment, communications, marketing and advertising.

The workshops aimed to present new ways of tackling problems encountered by participants. Members of Eurocare, the BtG project, relevant European organizations, Commission co-financed alcohol projects, and other key organizations, were invited to submit proposals to convene and run workshops.

Time was also provided for advocacy development, networking, partnership building and exchange between the participants.
