The governments of Brasil, Chile, France, and Norway among others have become strong supporters of both:
implementing innovative fundraising mechanisms to support worldwide development efforts (notably through a small tax on airfares)
setting up a new International Drug Purchase Facility - dedicated to improve long-term and cost-efficient access for medicines for AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
AIDES has drafted a declaration on the issue and invites organisations to co-sign it.

What is the International Drug Purchase Facility?
It aims to create a mechanism to facilitate access to essential medicines at a low-cost.
The objectives of the IDPF would be two-fold:
Mobilising resources in the mid- and long-term for the purchase of drugs and other medical products needed for the treatment of HIV/AIDS, TB and drug-resistant malaria.
Structuring the drug market allowing for lower prices by establishing reciprocal agreements between producers and buyers in the long term, while also ensuring the quality of drugs.
