A workshop on health funding opportunities in the Baltic states was initiated and hosted by Prof Georgs Andrejevs (MEP, Latvia ALDE), co-hosted by Dr Jolanta Dickute (MEP Lithuania ALDE) and Tunne Kelam (MEP, Estonia EPP ED).
Around 100 participants from all three Baltic countries attended the conference.
The aim of the conference was to inform participants about fundraising using EU funds. The conference focused especially on Structural funds - what funds are available in each member state based on their priorities.
The conference was an opportunity to deepen understanding through the presentations and exchange of experience between officials (Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Affairs) from all three Baltic states.
The cooperation between NGOs and state institutions who administrate the process of structural funding should become more close due to the prospective reforms by EU structural funding for the years 2007-2013. The funding, which will go towards promotion of health issues, will encourage NGOs and state institutions to work together on health issues of political priority.
