France, Germany and Austria did not transpose on time the directive on the recognition of professional qualifications concerning the professions of nurse responsible for general care, dental practitioner, veterinary surgeon, midwife, architect, pharmacist and doctor in the requested period, according to the European Commission and the European Court of Justice.

The Directive 2001/19/EC is part of a set of measures that aim to guarantee the right for each EU citizen to establish themselves or provide services anywhere in the European Union, by allowing the mutual recognition of professional qualifications between Member States.
