During the two days from 30-31 March 2006, the project coordinator, A. Knabe, and assistant, I. Murniece, met with five NGOs in Lithuania:

- Non-Governmental Organisation Information and Support Centre
- Lithuanian Red Cross Association
- Coalition of Vulnerable Groups “Galiu gyventi”
- Family Planning and Sexual Health Association
- The Lithuanian Fund for Nature

Consequently, after the meetings, the EPHA and CAL representatives were invited to make presentations on networking and EPHA activities at the Antipoverty network development meeting in Lithuania on 7 April.

Promoting networking activities

On 7 April 2006, Ilze Murniece - EPHA’s Regional Project Assistant in Latvia - made a presentation to more than 70 NGOs in Lithuania about the advantages of networking and EPHA activities.

Non-Governmental Organisation Information and Support Centre of Lithuania (NISC) is developing the Antipoverty network in Lithuania. One of the concerns of the network is public health. For this reason, NISC invited an EPHA representative to share some experiences related to networking and collaboration between the organisations.

Antipoverty network in Lithuania gathers together more than 70 NGOs dealing with issues including social concerns, harm reduction, health care, education, and children.

P.S.

EPHA currently runs an EU funded project called “Building the health community across Europe” (2003-2006). One of the work packages, no. 2, deals with “Capacity building for CEE NGOs”.
