Study visit to NGOs in Estonia

From the 6 to 8 March 2006, a study visit with NGOs was organised in Estonia. The aim of the visit was to get to know how public health NGOs are working in Estonia and to establish mutual cooperation in order to strengthen the development of national platform on public health in Estonia.

Agnese Knabe and Ilze Murniece held meetings with representatives of 7 NGOs:
- Network of Estonian Non-profit Organizations (NENO)
- Tallinn Children’s Hospital Foundation
- Estonian Blue Cross
- Estonian Temperance Movement
- AIDS prevention centre
- NGO Convictus eest
- The Estonian Women’s Studies and Resource Centre (ENUT)

It appears that AIDS Prevention centre has started to establish a network focusing on health and social issues. The organisations, which are involved in the platform are recognised as professional organisations in Estonia, which could provide a basis for further cooperation.
