EuroPrevall aims to deliver improved quality of life for food allergic people by developing common information and tools for use by European food allergy scientists, health professionals, food and biotech industries, and consumers - those who are food allergic and those who are not. A recent report for example, gathers information on food labelling and identifies information needed by consumers.
The strategic objectives of EuroPrevall include:
establishing the prevalence of food allergies in infants, children and adults across Europe;
establishing which environmental factors, such as allergies to pollen, food consumption patterns, are linked to the development of food allergy;
measuring the socio-economic impact and cost of food allergies;
developing, through research, new diagnostic and predictive tools/methods to enable more effective management of food allergies.
The project brings together 16 European Union Member States, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Iceland and Ghana. The partnership involves clinical organisations, small-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as the leading allergy research organisations in Europe including EFA.
