Main tasks and responsibilities:

The ECL co-ordinator/director is responsible for the administrative tasks of ECL and the co-ordination of all ECL activities in collaboration with the ECL President and the ECL Executive Board.

The tasks include the following:

- Correspondence and collaboration with ECL member organisations
- Preparation and reporting of Executive Board and General Assembly meetings
- Implementation of Executive Board and General Assembly decisions
- Internal information activities (e.g. publication of ECL newsletter, mailings, e-mails, updating of the ECL web site)
- Lobbying at EU level for Tobacco Prevention and other cancer related matters.
- Fundraising
- Providing administrative support to the ECL Working groups (e.g. membership services, meeting arrangements and information exchange, etc)
- These groups cover issues like tobacco control, cancer screening, patients’ rights and others )
- External information activities (e.g. leaflet, posters, annual report, press releases, exhibitions)
- Correspondence and collaboration with the European Union and partnerorganisations (e.g. International Union Against Cancer, Federation EuropeanCancer Societies)
- Co-ordination of joint activities (e.g. European Week Against Cancer)
- Co-ordination of the nomination of the host country of “the European Conference on Tobacco or Health”
- Management of the ECL finances (e.g. prepare annual budget, up-to-date book-keeping)

The Director will have some administrative resources.

Qualifications and skills:

Careful consideration will be given to all those with the appropriate political (lobbying) and management experience at international level.

The candidate shall be able to think politically, develop strategies, work independently, take initiative and co-operate effectively.

English will be the working and official language of the organisation and the Secretariat. Knowledge of, or fluency in other European languages such as French will be an advantage for the ECL co-ordinator.

Terms of employment:

The ECL office is registered Brussels. The employment terms comply with the Belgian legal requirements.

Starting date: ASAP

Starting remuneration will be EUR 4200 incl. (full time position).
