Aimed at practitioners and policy makers in the health and social field, the conference is an associated event for the UK Presidency of the EU 2005.
The conference has three main aims:
1. highlight the strong correlation that exists between social exclusion and poor health.
2. summarize and disseminate the results of the EuroHealthNet project Tackling Health Inequalities and Social Exclusion in Europe.
3. focus on issues relating to ‘practice-based policy’ and explore the complex journey ‘from practice to policy’ highlighting the processes and mechanisms required.
The conference provided as well practitioners and policy makers from across Europe with further networking opportunities. This was designed to stimulate the exchange of good practice, improve understanding between practitioners and decision makers, encourage better interaction between professionals from the social and the health field, and identify transferable lessons which can be learned and applied by partners working in different themes, settings and with different communities.
