EPHA is the Brussels-based partner of the project “SEXual Patients Rights Charter” (SEX-PARC) lead by the International Centre of Health Protection (HERA) based in Russia.

The project is funded under the European Commission Tacis Institution Building Partnership Programme (IBPP),

The main aim of the project is the development and adoption of a Charter of Rights of Sexual Patients for the promotion of sustainable health and social care system rendering the beneficiaries as active participants of the process.

The target group are sexual patients from the Russian federation with adolescents/youth as main sub-group.

The main activities are:

- A Charter of Sexual Patients’ Rights for ensuring the rights observation for vulnerable patients,

- Advocacy activities and awareness-raising among the decision-makers in health issues,

- Trainings and transfer of the international know-how for health professionals and policy makers,

- Monitoring of rights of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups of population,

- Publications (manuals, brochures, info-sheets, translation of international best practice documents).

The geographic scope of the project includes the Russian regions of Ivanovo and Kaluga, although the results will be disseminated to other regions of Russia.

EPHA’s deliverables

Amongst EPHA’s deliverables there is a Charter of Sexual and Reproductive Rights (English version below) and a Manual for Health Professionals on Young people’s Reproductive and Sexual Rights (being drafted).

HERA will translate the two documents into Russian and they will be duly posted here.

A study visit to Brussels of a group of Russian health professionals working on sexual and reproductive rights will be organised in October 2005, and a training will take place in Moscow in early 2006.

Young people’s reproductive and sexual rights

I would be happy to know more on a capacity building seminar in Moscow for NGOs working on sexual and reproductive rights on 27-30 November 2006. We are working in this direction and would like to attend (one person from the Ukrainian NGO Green Doctors) Thank you, Dr. Lew Gerbilsky
