EP low level group on clean cars in Europe

Dutch MEP Dorette Corbey promoted the creation of a new informal group in the European Parliament called Low Level Group on Clean Cars for Europe.

The group was established as a reaction to the Commission’s High Level Group on CARS 21, and aims to put forward the idea that low emission cars are a key element for ensuring a viable future of the European automotive industry. According to MEP Corbey the European Parliament and the Commission will need to keep the pressure on, but also engage in a dialogue with industry to make environmental innovation a joint objective, creating a strong car industry with high quality employment that is known worldwide for producing the safest and the cleanest cars.

The low level group will meet four times in 2005 and encourages participation both from industry and from NGOs.
