Sidsela Nyebak joined the team on 18 April 2005 for a 6 months internship. One of her first tasks will be to analyse the Commission’s draft of the new Health and consumer protection programme.
A Policy Coordination Meeting was held on 13 April and the next meeting will be on 25 May 2005.
Presentations
Lara Garrido-Herrero gave a presentation on 16 April to the participants of the 2005 Network Meeting organised by the European Network for Smoking Prevention (ENSP) from 13 to the 16 April in Cyprus.
On 8 April Tamsin Rose reviewed the impact of enlargement on the EU institutions after 12 months with a group of HIV activists at the kick-off meeting of the 2nd phase of the Integration project. She also made a presentation to the AGE General Assembly on 14 April 25 on key issues in the EU health agenda.
Tamsin met with the network of UK Brussels Offices (UKBO) staff members with responsibility for health. She outlined the plans for a conference in Brussels in October/November 2005 on children and young people.
Events that EPHA attended
Tamsin Rose participated in a dinner debate organised by the European Heart Network. The theme of the debate was the launch of a new report on Obesity and the impact of marketing of unhealthy foods to children in Europe.
The new European Forum for Primary Care was launched in the European Parliament on 28 April 25. Tamsin Rose attended the event.
The EPHA Secretariat attended several Committee meetings and public hearings in the European Parliament.

Anne Hoel attended the General Assembly of the Social Platform on the 18th of April and she also went to an information meeting in DG Youth and Education about a call of tender in the field of communication and information.
Sidsela Nyebak attended the launch of a report on Commission funding and NGOs and a lunch meeting on patients as consumers.
Lara and Anne participated in the Social Policy Working Group of the Social Platform, where issues such as services, demographic change and the Luxemburg presidency were debated.
Lara attended the release of the data of the SHARE project (a survey of health, ageing and retirement in Europe).
Meetings
The EPHA Secretariat met the Project Officer of the Leeds City Council (UK) who has carried out a project on services for the elders from ethnic minorities (SEEM project). They looked for ways of cooperation.
EPHA participated in a meeting of the CAP NGO working group on sustainable development.
