The Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) responded to Recommendation IV of the G10 Medicines Group report with the Position Paper "Generic Medicines and the Role of the Pharmacist". In the paper, the PGEU reminds the EU that for safe and effective implementation of generic policies, the early involvement of community pharmacists is essential. The paper also identifies key factors in maintaining confidence in schemes to increase the use of generic medicines.
